Let me tell you a story.
You are already hooked, aren’t you?
Designing great course content is one thing, but speaking to your learners is another.
Regardless of our age, we all love a good story. The best facilitators can take a piece of course content and use their experience to speak to their cohort in a way that makes the learning “sink in”.
Hearing the “why”, hearing a “great example”, hearing what “could go wrong”, all lead into the best learning experiences.
Do the best teachers give out a book to read and expect people to read it and understand?
NO.
The best teachers share their life stories with their learners, at times they might need to de-identify the places and names, however, those real-life lessons are how we have learned since the beginning of humanity.
Personally, I love the stories of what went wrong to get my point across. Showing old clips of John Cleese making a mockery of his guests in “Fawlty Towers” is a great example of this when talking about the customer experience.
In an online environment, it is essential that we write content using a “voice” that speaks to the cohort. Reading endless pages of boring, wordy text can be disengaging and we must make sure that the text is written to the appropriate level of the learner. Mixing it up with some imagery, webinars, podcasts and videos gives us an opportunity to embed the story into courses.
The moral of the story?
Pop Education creates quality course content, engaging assessments and speak the language of the learner.
